BOB

Bob, or ‘LowbrassBob’ (a nod to his other cardio skills as a professional musician on the tuba and bass trombone), has been running with NER for nine years. He set a goal of running a half marathon around that time and has now completed nine full marathons, including five Boston qualifiers. ‘Pastor’ Bob also leads NER’s “Church’ Sunday long runs, a congregation that has grown by biblical proportions. It’s all about the social aspect, though; he loves NER and all we do for each other and is proud of our role in the community. Mainly a road runner, at NER Sociables he has been talked into many trail races, a 48k Chignecto loop, the Cabot Trail relay, and a couple of triathlons.

CHAD

Chad joined NER in 2013 and quickly discovered two new loves — one, his now-wife Jenn and two, running! He used to spend a lot of time on the local road racing circuit, but nowadays happiest to run socially and cheering you all on. So come tell him about your goals and what you’re working on. When the run is done, find Chad for good chill vibes, NERd-outs… or just some inane wordplay.

ERIN

Ocean scientist, dog momma to Simon, and momma to A, Erin’s been running with NER since 2015. While she’ll do a road race if you make her (or it’s called Smashed Dash), she’s happiest with muddy feet and on the trail. She’s got ice, desert and mountain ultras under her belt, but you’ll find her with her biggest smile when she’s exhausting herself with this crew on Bluff, Susie’s or Chignecto. Erin is passionate about everyone finding their place outside. You can find her supporting all things NER trail, working to make safer spaces on trail, and scheming about the next crew adventure.

GREG

Greg found NER in the fall of the inaugural year after spotting them hanging out in front of North Brewing. He spends a lot of time pursuing human-powered wilderness adventures, mostly trail running, snowshoeing, and sea kayaking. He has had feet on trails from California to Crete and Northern Finland to Albania, including an extended southwest desert tour living in his VDub Wagon. Unexpectedly, he has also finished a number of hella scenic Ultras from the wild coast of Newfoundland to the Rockies. Greg believes the Japanese saying, ‘the trail will leave lifelong memories of nature’s kindness and harshness.’

JANNA

Engineer, yogi, mom to Lexi pup, and one of the OG’s who joined the crew back in 2013. She was enticed to join the crew when she saw a tweet about the social night which combines two of her faves — running and beer. She started running more competitively back in her UNB days on the cross country team and now years later she has countless road and trail races on her run resume — with the NER Cabot trail relay team for the past 6 years easily topping the ‘best of’ list. But her fave part about the crew is the awesome people who love this community and support each other in all we do!

JENN

Jenn joined NER in 2013 to mix up her training and meet more people in the neighbourhood…and wow did she ever! Let us all reminisce on those first 3 weeks when she was faster than her now-husband Chad. Jenn loves city miles, but probably loves the snacks and swims that come with trail running more. While managing a chronic back injury, she’s come to appreciate all forms of running. Look for her cheering you on while telling you to use the crosswalk, and celebrating all the MILEstones, big and small.

JUSTIN

An outdoor enthusiast and ‘natural warm climate Runner’, Justin enjoys running plenty of trails, climbing, and paddle boarding and when not on the move is typically found in habitats containing records, craft beer or coffee. He met the NER crew during a famous sociable in 2017 in which the crew launched their own beer called ‘Little Beast’ after an OG bridge run. Justin ran his first 5km at the Blue Nose in 2017, and with plenty of #crewlove, ran his first full marathon at Blue Nose in 2018 (along with some shorter races since). The highlight of 2022 was joining the NER Cabot team, PB’ing a 15k on a midnight leg fuelled by coffee and French fries and spending the weekend supporting the BEST RUN CREW. Justin is a regular at Wednesday crew runs, post-run sociables, community initiatives or trail adventures and is looking forward to accomplishing more personal run goals supporting our awesome crew and community.

KENNY

Scientist, dad, destroyer of hills and ligaments, and certified goofball — has run with NER since 2017. He runs it all: 5Ks, half-marathons, and trails…even though he hates getting his pretty shoes all muddy. Kenny’s “favourite things” include the Glebe Street Gutbuster Strava segment, dressing up as a kitty, and blowing his entire paycheck on shoes. His least favourite thing is missing an NER Social Night on the first Wednesday of the month, because #CREWLOVE! Kenny adamantly refuses to follow his physiotherapist’s demands to chill out; when not running with the crew, he’s running solo, running on an ultimate frisbee field, running after a bus, or just kickin’ it on the ol’ physio table.

LYNDSAY

While her first road race was here in Halifax, Lyndsay joined her first running crew in Seoul and crossed off a few 10ks and half marathons while living in Asia. She finally made her way back home & joined the NER crew in May 2022. Once she’s done refuelling with pizza, she’s either at the beach or hiking a local trail. A lover of long runs, you can find her on Sunday mornings leading the Sunday school pack.

RILEY

Riley, AKA ‘yearbook’, hype woman and mom to trail doggo, Vlad, founded the NER crew out of North Brewing’s original location at Agricola and North St in 2013. It’s a funny story, ask her about it. After 2 decades of running (one of those with NER), countless races including 10 marathons, half the Cabot Trail, and memorable kilometres all over the planet, her favourite thing about running is forever the community of awesome people who do it. NER still runs the north every Wednesday, and you can find Riley shouting out routes, behind the social feeds, leading a cheer squad or power walking up whatever hill Greg and the trail crew are making her run this week.
